In moving from Panama to Guinea I suspect the Galvez family will be blown away by a culture that is so unlike the culture they live in now or any they have lived in before for that matter. Nonetheless God is graceful and he has made all his children in his own image. Although their will be a very big cultural and linguistic boundary, humans have been made to be able to socially relate, and I do not doubt that the Jahango will learn to accept and relate to them and vice versa. It is incredible to see these type of situations from a global perspective, we seem to be so different one from another inter and intraculturally and still we are all human, having the same needs and with the same inate ability to worship the same creator. I belive the Galvez family will be able to make a deep impact and show their love for Christ at first even without the understanding of the Jahango language.
We should try to apply this same type of mentality in ministry on our short-term missions trip to Peru. Although some of us will have some language, economic and cultural barriers to break before being able to fully relate to the people of Mancora, we shouldnt let this affect our effectiveness. We can still portray who we are and our purpose by having Godʻs love emmanate from us all the time during the trip. We need to focus on working and having a good attitude all throughout the trip, we want for the youth and the church members at Mancora to recognize our love for God, and our selflessness in helping them.
